Stelleshoes
Is a mechanic kinetic sculpture . I found some red Chinese dance shoes in New York; white wedding shoes from Los Angeles, Shoe forms from Italy, France and Belgium. These shoes are walking generation over generation through time. Humanity marching ahead. The sculpture is a collaboration with technical artist Bernard Gitton and staff Sylvain Chabouty and myself; plus Conchita; a Hungarian aristocratic lady who became a cleaning lady after her family fled to France during the Dramatic invasion of the Soviets in Hungary, when she was a little girl.
The sculpture can be pedalled by the means of a unique pedal made by Singer in France around the turn of the Century. The first pedal with double pedal motion and relays conducting the movement to the various shoe types, which produce a sound of reminiscent of the people marching, dancing and living it up.
